The MOD Squad stands for Mothers of Children with Diabetes. Mission Lutheran Church helped establish this support group, which meets on the first Thursday of the month from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m., in one of our Conference Rooms. The group features a guest speaker every month and childcare is available.
Operation Christmas Child
Every year, Mission Lutheran Church participates in Operation Christmas Child. This program distributes gift-filled shoe boxes to children in places like earthquake-devastated Haiti and war-scarred Sudan. Through these simple gifts, Operation Christmas Child shares the love that Christ offers with children around the world. They have a follow-up discipleship program, The Greatest Journey, that is helping children become followers of Christ who are spreading the Good News. It is a privilege to be part of this caring ministry. Let your children share their faith in their everyday lives, by filling a shoe box and helping other children throughout the world.
Special Vision Trips
At Mission Lutheran Church we have special vision trips where people go to other countries to “catch the vision” of the living conditions there. They spend their own funds to meet real people in need and gain some understanding of the culture. They explore some of the opportunities for ministry that are already underway. As Christ tells us, our neighbors are not just next door, but they are all around the world. Members of our church have traveled to the Philippines and Peru to see Free Wheelchair Mission in action. They have visited South Africa to learn about sharing Christ’s love for children through Acres of Love.
In April 2012, a trip is scheduled to the Dominican Republic to view a Cure hospital and Plant With a Purpose communities. An October trip is scheduled to Peru with Free Wheelchair Mission.
