Mission Within Reach

The Sacred Harvest Foundation is providing us at Mission Lutheran Church the privilege and opportunity to expand our mission and ministry by:

a. Allowing us to extend the loan time frame until May 31, 2014.

b. Allowing us to get out of the burden of our current $2,600,000 debt by decreasing the principle of the loan by $2 for every $1 contributed to the MWR campaign. (e.g., if $1,300,000 is contributed our $2,600,000 debt is forgiven!)

c. In addition, every dollar given to MWR will also be used to expand mission and ministry:

1) One third (e.g., $433,000 of $1,300,000) will be used to support eight community and global missions!
2) Two thirds (e.g., $867,000 of $1,300,000) will be used to expand the mission and ministry of Mission Lutheran Church!

Mission Within Reach is a campaign made possible by a miraculous offer.  It is a three-year campaign to reduce the mortgage on our new facilities.  But it is also so much more!  While the money donated will be matched by Sacred Harvest Foundation to reduce our debt, each dollar given to Mission Within Reach will be used to expand mission and ministry.  One third of the money will be used to support eight community and global missions.  Two-thirds will be used to expand the mission and ministry of Mission Lutheran Church!  We are off to an exciting start!  We have made our first contributions to the eight selected mission projects.  We are exploring new ways to expand our mission so we can participate and grow together to fulfill our meaning and purpose as the people of God in this place.  If you want to learn more about this extraordinary opportunity, follow this link to onamissioninoc.com

If you would like to give to any of these charities, you can do so on our giving page. Thank you for your generosity!

Timeline & Financials

  1. In 2005 the congregation held the three year “Building Our Legacy” capital campaign to consider expanding our mission and ministry through the expansion of our facilities.
  2. In 2007 demolition and construction begin.
  3. The Sacred Harvest Foundation (very generously) loaned Mission Lutheran Church $3,000,000 in 2008 for the construction of over 17,000 square feet which we now call the Administration Building, Mission Hall, Mission Lutheran School offices and kindergarten.  The loan was for five years at a very favorable interest rate.
  4. In January, 2008, the new facilities were dedicated to the glory of God!
  5. In March, 2008, a new two year capital campaign called “Living Our Legacy” was held to service the mortgage on our debt.
  6. Now, in May, 2011, we are launching a three year “Mission Within Reach” with the goal of raising $1,300,000.  This is a significant challenge but we have been graced with a miraculous offer!

The MWR funds received must be over and above the support of the current ministry and mission supported through our general operating fund.
