Mission Lutheran supports eight community and global missions
with goal of changing lives through Jesus Christ. In addition, we are active in regular outreach

Your support of this ministry changes the lives of children, families and communities locally and around the world. The results are continually amazing to the recipients. Mission Lutheran Church has donated more than 1100 free wheelchairs. That is 1100 lives changed in 8 years to now have freedom for basic needs such as being able independently getting meals.

On A Mission In OC is our name and our mission. We are a people who reach out to others in need both in the community and internationally. There is never a shortage of those who need help, and we believe that God has called all of us to come alongside these people and provide assistance in a multitude of ways including prayer, action, presence as well monetarily.

Below are a series of teachings and testimonials of representatives from just some of the programs that we have partnered with. We think that you will find them inspiring.

Dr. Don Schoendorfer

Founder and President of Free Wheelchair Mission
Don will share his story as to how God used a biomedical engineer with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from MIT to help solve the problem of immobility in developing nations. Since 2001 Free
Wheelchair Mission has given over 670,000 wheelchairs to people in 86 countries.

Kristy Fox 

Young Life & Rising Tide
Kristy has worked with youth for over 20 years of which 19 of those have been with Young Life, a ministry that desires to be present in the lives of young people, armed with a desire for fun and to proclaim the ultimate message of hope in Jesus Christ. Currently Kristy works closely with the youth at the Rising Tide Community, a transition housing program for youth who have been recently emancipated from the foster care system.

Leah Emerson

Associate in Ministry, Mission Lutheran Church, Laguna Niguel
Leah is part of the staff of Mission Lutheran. She was baptized at Mission in 1994 after finally being awakened by the love of God. Over the last 20 years Leah has been molded and shaped by that Love to serve her church and community, joining the team at Mission in 2001 and being commissioned as an AiM in 2008. Leah has a background in nursing and serves Mission in health ministry and pastoral care.

Larry Acosta

Founder of Urban Youth Workers Institute and Kidworks
Kidworks, which had it start working out of 2 rented apartments in the barrios of Santa Ana, has now become one of OC's leading community development organizations that operates out of the Donahue Center serving it's community with preschool, ESL, computer classes, youth programs, tutoring and scholarships for deserving students to Mater Dei High School.

Jim Burns

Founder and President of Homeword
Jim is in constant demand to speak to audiences all over the world on matters of the family, as well as heard being on over 800 radio stations each and every day. He is the author of over 30 books, many of which have been translated into other languages. His recent books include Faith Conversations for Families, The Art of Raising Great Teenagers, Confident Parenting, The Purity Code and Creating an Intimate Marriage.

Robert Fry

Sr. Gift Advisor for National Christian Foundation So. California
Prior to becoming Sr. Gift Advisor at NCF, Bob worked at Merrill Lynch as their Trust Co. Director of investments overseeing $10 billion of trust assets, an investment counselor for Van Deventer & Hoch Charitable Services department, and with a law degree from UCLA, practiced law from 1981-1990. But his greatest love is teaching the scriptures and helping fellow Christians to live out their faith within the marketplace.

Skye Jethani

Nationally recognized Author and Speaker
Skye currently serves on the editorial team for Leadership Journal while also serving as Senior Producer of This Is Our City; a multi-year, multi-city project telling the stories of Christians working for the common good of their communities. He has authored two books - The Divine Commodity; Discovering a Faith Beyond Consumer Christianity and WITH: Reimagining the Way You Relate to God. To be released this year is Futureville.

Matthew Holguin

CEO Working To Give LLC
Upon his graduation from Azusa Pacific University with an MBA, Matt Holquin started his company Working to Give, Inc. along with the Working to Give Foundation. His goal was to start multiple businesses in the marketplace with the sole purpose of funneling funds into overseas ministry efforts. Matt invests 50% of his businesses profits into his foundation that funds mission work, micro-finance loans, orphanages. At 32 years of age, his business operates 3 food booths at Disney Downtown Anaheim, as well as Colossal Gelato and Legendairy Gelato that frequent state fairs throughout California and Arizona.

Scott Sabin

Executive Director of Plant With Purpose
Scott Sabin is the Executive Director of Plant With Purpose (formerly Floresta), a Christian nonprofit organization, which works to serve the rural poor in places where extreme poverty and environmental degradation intersect. He is also the author of the recent book Tending to Eden: Environmental Stewardship for God's People.

Dr. Dale Brantner

President and CEO of Cure International
Dale was an Old Testament Professor and Pastor before joining Cure. Cure is a network of charitable hospitals providing surgical programs that deliver life-changing medical care along with the good news of God's love to children and families with treatable conditions. Founded in 1998, Cure has 11 hospitals world wide (6 in Africa, 2 in the Mid East, 2 in Latin America and 1 in the Philippines) and has performed over 138,000 surgeries and trained 6100 medical professionals.

Gerda Audagnotti

Founder of Acres of Love
In 1998 Gerda, and her husband Ryan, began Acres of Love by first opening their home in South Africa to be a place of hope for children abandoned by AIDS. Motivated by the words in Proverbs 31:8, 9 "speak up for those who have no voice...defend the rights of the fatherless", Acres of Love has rescued over 500 children by placing them in safe homes and providing each child with the individual and personalized care that they deserve.

Craig G.

Missionary in Philippines
Craig and his wife Lisa, have spent 15 years leading an international team in the Philippines whose mission is to be the presence of Jesus while bringing Jesus' message to their communities. Their team addresses critical needs through hosting medical clinics, literacy training for women, teaching sustainable farming practices, tutoring disadvantage university students.

Campaign Initiatives

Our goal: Fund a retreat for 250 combat weary soldiers and their families to help them reconnect with society and each other.

  • Free Wheelchair Mission

Our goal: Fund 900 wheelchairs for the disabled, whom society often forgets, though God never does.

  • Cure International

Our goal: Fund 53 medical procedures of 1st world surgical care to cure hydrocephalus, club feet, and cleft palates.

  • Kidworks

Our goal: enable 120 at-risk, low-income youth from Kindergarten through 12th grade, to take part in our spiritual development and enrichment programs each year for three years.

  • Acres of Love

Our goal: to raise funds that will enable and empower the Acres of Love social workers and caregivers in South Africa to accept and process exceptionally complicated placement cases. The funds will also be applied to do reconstructive surgery, emergency and lifesaving surgery that will benefit 150 infants and children.

  • Rising Tide Foundation

Our goal: Fund “rent subsidies” for 35 youth who have turned 18 and are living on their own because they are no longer in the Orange County foster youth program. Help build the future of foster youth by breaking the cycle of child abuse and, most importantly, introducing youth to a caring God.

  • Plant with Purpose

Our goal: Fund training for 500 farmers in conservation and reforestation, provide 100,000 trees for planting, support ten local pastors in doing community bible studies.
